The world knows me as Sun Preet — but I believe I am truly a child blessed by the Sun God Himself, forever wrapped in His warmth, strength, and golden light. Darkness may exist in my life, but it always remains behind me, hidden in my shadows, because my face continues to shine with hope, courage, and the brilliance of a rising sun.
Yes, I am a paraplegic and move through life in a wheelchair. But my disability has never defined me. Challenges may have tested my body, but they could never defeat my spirit.
My journey changed forever when I became a student of Dayawati Modi Academy. My school did not merely educate me — it taught me how to smile through pain, how to remain positive during life’s hardest battles, and how to believe in myself even when the world doubted me. It was there that I first learned to read and write, and once the doors of education opened before me, there was no turning back.
Education never became a burden on my parents because my respected Principal, Dr. Ritu Dewan, became much more than an educator to me — she became my second mother. She held my hand with compassion and promised to support my education through Grade XII and beyond. That promise became the light that illuminated my future.
Then came a moment that felt nothing less than a miracle.
My Principal Ma’am gifted me an automated wheelchair. For the very first time in my life, I felt truly independent… truly free. I still remember that overwhelming joy — my heart danced with happiness. In that beautiful moment, I no longer felt limited by my circumstances; instead, I felt as though I was soaring above them.
From that day onward, life transformed. I participated in school activities, Annual Day performances, and every opportunity that came my way. With every wheel that moved forward, my confidence grew stronger. My classmates and teachers cared for me like angels sent by God Himself. They never made me feel different. Instead, they made me feel loved, respected, valued, and capable.
And behind every ounce of my strength stands my mother — my warrior, my protector, and my greatest inspiration. She fought against opposition and societal limitations to ensure I received an education. She refused to let the world decide what I could or could not achieve. Her sacrifices, courage, and unwavering faith taught me how to dream fearlessly.
My bones may be brittle, but my determination is unbreakable.
Today, I proudly stand — not on my feet, but on my resilience, courage, and hard work — having scored an impressive 80.6% in my Class XII Board examinations. And this is only the beginning. I am ready to conquer greater academic heights and build a future filled with purpose, dignity, and achievement.
I will remain forever grateful to my school, my beloved Principal Ma’am Dr. Ritu Dewan, my teachers, and my classmates for their endless encouragement, unconditional support, and immeasurable love. They did not merely make my journey possible — they made it extraordinary.
My life is blessed.
And my story is living proof that even when life takes away your ability to walk, it can still teach you how to rise.
